Summer is reading time. Read inside, read outside, read at breakfast, read at lunch, read when you wake up, read before you go to sleep. We don’t care when you read, just read every day! Everyone can spend a few minutes every day either reading or being read to. Listening to audiobooks counts as reading as far as your brain is concerned. So download an audiobook onto your phone or tablet and listen in the car, waiting for the kids to finish whatever activity they are doing, as you go to bed. Again, just listen a bit every day, your brain thanks you!
So many wonderful titles to read and listen to. Select titles that suit your interests. While books are no longer being published in mass market paperback size we are still ordering cozy mysteries, westerns and romances. They are in trade paperback size now. Stop in and see us for authors or titles in these genres as they are now interfiled in with the regular fiction. Our paperback shelves don’t hold the larger size books.
There aren’t very many authors still publishing westerns, but check out William Johnstone and the classic authors such as Louis L’Amour, Zane Gray or newer titles by Loren Estleman. Cozy mystery authors include Juneau Black, Jess Lourey, Donna Andrews, or Alexander McCall Smith. And if you are looking for romances try Jill Shalvis, Evie Dunmore or Jenny Colgan for starters. These are just a few of the many authors we might recommend. Let us know if you need more.
We also have a wide variety of non-fiction ranging from Forty Ways to Know a Tree by Joan Maloof to How to Survive the End of the World by Katy Doughty to Tom Paine’s War: the words that rallied a nation and the founder for our time by Jack Kelly or The Typewriter and the Guillotine: an American journalist, a German serial killer and Paris on the eve of WWII by Mark Braude. So many books, so many options for what to read next.
Are you all caught up on favorite, popular authors? Jonathan Kellerman and his latest Alex Delaware novel Jigsaw, Elin Hilderbrand wrote The Academy with her daughter Shelby Cunningham.
