Happy Thanksgiving! May you and yours find plenty to be grateful for as we start the busy holiday season. Our new holiday titles are on display this week and will be available for checkout next week along with all our older holiday titles. We have plenty of fun, and delightful reads for this holiday season.

It can be hard to find time to read when the days are busy. But making the time to read each day can make even the busy days seem not so busy. It can make it easier for kids to deal with the stress of the holidays and calm them when stressed and uptight. Making the effort to read each day can really help the holidays be less stressful.

Some light-hearted romance might be just the ticket to destress. The Valet’s Secret by Josi S. Kilpack features of valet, a widow and secrets of identity. Is there room for happily ever after in your life? Contemporary romance can be brutal, Nora Goes off Script by Annabel Monaghan features a romance channel scriptwriter who turns her collapsed marriage into the best script of her life and then finds herself with the former sexiest man alive actor begging to stay at her house for a week.

Travel back in time to the days of Tsar Ivan the Terrible and delight as Baba Yaga decides she must save Russia from the brink of chaos, but does she really know who is manipulating Ivan and can she save her beloved country in The Witch and the Tsar by Olesya Salnikova Gilmore. OR maybe only go back to the days of the cold war in The Soviet Sisters by Anika Scott for an epic yet intimate tale of the ‘winners write the history.’ Vera and Marya were good soviets until deceit and betrayal tear them apart with Vera, becoming a respected member of the KGB and Marya a prisoner in a Siberian work camp.

The 1970’s were not kind to Detroit and Joyce Carol Oates set Babysitter in an affluent Detroit suburb with child murders happening seemingly randomly. Several residents are drawn together during this turbulent, shocking time. The wife of a prominent businessman, a charismatic stranger, a street hustler and a serial killer know as Babysitter all call us to examine how far we will go to protect those we cherish most.

I have always been fascinated by who is remembered by history. So much of the time it seems random. By Her Own Design by Piper Huguley brings to life Ann Lowe, fashion designer to the social elite whom history relegated to the sidelines.

Leigh Newman has a story collection about Alaskan life from Anchorage to the unsettled wilderness in Nobody Gets Out Alive.
