Financial Report: The current bills were reviewed. Nevanen made a motion to pay the bills, Barnhart seconded, motion carried. Dalton signed to pay the bills.
Director’s Report: We ended 2017 at 7% lower than 2016 circulation. That is less than the 10 – 12% of the previous three years, but still not what I’d like to see. December was a slow month, but staff were fairly grateful for that as we were still short-staffed. By January 10th we should be back up to full staff for a bit at least. The focus at the library for the next several months will be staff training. I will be going over a different topic/task each week and making sure each staff member knows what to do and how to do it. Beth and I will be meeting with Voyageur Park Ranger Lisa Maass about making one of their family packs available at the library for patron checkout on Thursday, January 11th. Arrowhead Library System has verbally confirmed that they will not bill us for automation any longer. We will allow county residents to have access to Hoopla beginning in February.
Old Business:
The Library will provide supplies for making luminaries on Saturday, January 20th of Icebox Days with a walk down 3rd Street in the evening before the fireworks. The Duluth Art Institute will present a workshop on metal tooling on Saturday, January 27th at 10:30 am for teens and adults.
