The school year is winding down. The weather is trying to be spring-like and the grass is greening. That means it can be easy to let the reading slide. Make the effort to read every day. I have talked before in this column about the benefits of reading every day whether you are an adult or a child. Reading helps all of us, so make reading a daily habit.
Has your favorite author come out with a new title recently? Have you read it yet? Or did you miss seeing it? Here are some of the favorite authors of International Falls and their most recent title. Check to see if your author is a favorite of others in the area and if you have another book to read to be caught up with an author’s works. David Baldacci’s latest is The Fix, the third title in the Amos Decker series. The Twenty-Three by Linwood Barclay is the third book in the Promise Falls Trilogy.
Vicious Circle by C.J. Box was just released last month and is the seventeenth Joe Pickett title. If you haven’t read any of his, you can have a number of titles to add to your reading list. The twenty-first title in the Jack Reacher books by Lee Child, Night School, released last fall. Also releasing last fall is the newest John Grisham book, The Whistler, another judicial or legal thriller.
Two Minnesota authors continue to be popular. William Kent Krueger release his fifteenth title about his popular character Cork O’Connor last September. The book Manitou Canyon takes place in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. John Sanford released the twenty-seventh title in his popular Lucas Davenport series just yesterday. Golden Prey is the first book in which Lucas Davenport is no longer working for the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension but is a U.S. Marshal. He gets to pick his cases and go where they lead him and this one leads him straight into trouble. And Stuart Woods’ forty-first title with Stone Barrington, Fast and Loose, released last week.
Danielle Steel has been busy this past year writing lots, she has six titles scheduled for release this year including Dangerous Games which released last month. It features never-say-die investigative television journalist Alix Phillips who travels the world with cameraman (and ex—Navy SEAL) Ben Chapman in pursuit of a corrupt vice president. Catherine Coulter’s Devil’s Triangle is the fourth title in her “Brit in the FBI” series and the first with special agents Nicholas Drummond and Michaela Caine in their new roles as heads of the Covert Eyes team.
Another very prolific author is Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb whose ‘In Death” series is up to forty-four titles with February’s release of Echoes in Death. Lieutenant Eve Dallas faces her toughest case yet as she tries to figure out who is targeting New York’s young and wealthy couples. Room for one last author and her new book. Debbie Macomber released If Not For You in March.
