@ Your Library
I am excited to announce that the new app for the Arrowhead Library System is finally available. In December of 2023, the old app quit working, they were able to partially restore functions, but it continued to malfunction. The focus shifted to developing their own app and not relying on a third party. Of course, that took longer than anticipated.
You can now search in both the apple app store and google play for ALS Library App to download. Once downloaded you can enter your account information, see what you have checked out and when it is due back to the library, what you have requested from the library and search the catalog and request items to be saved for you to pick up at the library. If you were still using the old app, it is recommended that you switch to the new app as there is no support for the old app and it will continue to malfunction.
The app includes a link to our website where you can see the calendar of events slide show and learn what is happening at the library. Please let staff know if you have issues loading the new app or need your card number to log into the app to track your library materials.
May is the month the library focuses on preparing for summer reading. We will be having classes visit the library and learn about what we have to offer and get information about the summer reading program. We have lots of fun stuff planned this summer. Summer is a wonderful time for fun, games, relaxing and just enjoying the days of summer. But it is also important to spend a bit of time each day (we recommend 20 minutes of the day) reading. That little bit of reading and learning will go a long way to help the brain remember what it has learned over the last year and be ready to learn again come fall.
The library has worked with many teachers, and they can all tell which students read over the summer and which haven’t. That learning loss adds up over the years as the students who don’t read take longer to get back up to speed each fall. Help all our students be ready for the new school year by spending just 20 minutes a day reading, learning or otherwise using their brain.
Encourage everyone in this community to spend a bit of time each day reading. It will help us all be more empathetic, sleep better (if you don’t get caught up in a good book and read until 2 am) and keep our brains active and slow brain decline.
Don’t miss out, plan now to attend the Minnesota Art’s and Cultural Heritage funded concert on Saturday, May 17th at 11 am. “Going to Bartalina” with folk singer Charlie Maguire is for all ages and focuses on shipping and shipwrecks in Lake Superior. A great way to start a busy community day.
Does the IFalls library use the MNLink system?
Yes, the International Falls Public Library is part of the Arrowhead Library System which provides us access to MNLink.
