Director’s Report – May was slower than April (but that is fairly normal). But May 2021 was up 76% from May 2020. Still only 2500 checkouts last month, but going up. We are up 14% for the year. I hope we will see kids this summer and a return to some sense of normalcy for reading participation even without our usual outside performers.
This month has gone incredibly fast as I was gone for two weeks. Focus has been on helping patrons, preparing for summer reading and getting things lined up at the library without Beth. I’ve created a base desk schedule for the summer, we will have a staff meeting on Friday, June 4th to talk about the changes, summer reading and introduce the new student employees.
I’ll have a proposed job description for a circulation associate at the June meeting. I’d hoped to get it done and send in the packet, but have run out of time.
We will be launching the state park pass program on Monday, June 7. Watch for publicity.
Old Business – upcoming programs – summer – no outside performers, as much programming as possible outside, weekly take home STEAM for elementary, monthly craft for teens and adults, storytime and big play for early elementary and younger, weekly family fun before concerts
Fireplace insert – still requesting bids per Ted
Legal Aid Kiosk – set up and working, beginning to get word out, it is available to use
Wall Mural – work continues
New Business – Circulation Associate job description was presented, will post job from July 6 – 22. Interviews the following week.
Peterson recommended reaching out to the Library Bistro and Pub about joint marketing opportunities. Director suggested definitely September as it is Library Card month. She will work on scheduling a meeting with Brooke and Harley.
What are you reading? – Ashley didn’t recommend Summer Sisters by Judy Blume, MaryJo is reading The Talented Miss Farwell by Emily Gray Tedrowe, Heather is reading All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot, Paul is reading Ian McGuire’s newest The Abstainer while Dick is working his way through the James Grippando canon and is up to The Pardon, Darcy is cooking her way through and reading Sioux Chef’s Indigenous Kitchen while Diane is finishing The Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 at 4:30 pm.
Meeting ended at 5:10 pm.
