Director’s Report – We are holding steady at 3% decline in circulation compared to 2018. We remain hopeful that the library of things and our 2020 reading challenge will help stem the tide and that we will see at least a year of stability. Storytime attendance has been up and down with attendance varying from 5 – 25 in the last month. The Wednesday after school programming attendance dropped off in November, we took a break in December and will start up again in January.
Upcoming programs: Storytime Thursday mornings at 10:30 until December 19th. Limited programming until the new year, just stealth programming out and about in the building.
KTI – Next round of grants now taking applications. We applied for a grant to receive additional technology for Libratory and are listed as the recipient of the Oculus VR units to process as additional items in the Library of Things.
Scan Assistant applicants – We received 21 applications. Interviews will be scheduled for December 18th.
Donations: Nevanen moved and Dalton seconded to accept donations in memory of Gene McLinn – $300 from McLinn family, $20 from Janet Nelson and Einar & Julie Johnson, $30 from Scott & Stephanie Reichert, $50 from Michael & Claudette McLinn

Motion by Dalton, second by Kostiuk, approved. Adams will contact Peterson and ask for him to submit letter to city administrator outlining approved pay rates for 2020
Kostiuk was interested in having us work with the schools and create book and science kits they could use. We make the kits available, so will work on improving communication with schools. After conversation with teacher who had talked to Kostiuk, what is needed is assistance for the library paraprofessional at the school library who is being asked to create kits for teachers and students to use. That is beyond her job description and she isn’t sure where to begin. We will reach out to her and encourage her to borrow kits from us.
Next Friends of the Library sale – Tuesday, January 7th, 5 – 7 pm
What are you reading? – John Dalton just borrowed Radicals, Resistance and Revenge by Judge Jeanine Pirro, Ashley is excited she just finished Elin Hilderbrand’s trilogy Winter Street, Winter Stroll and Winter Storms, while Paul is reading Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. Ted is enjoying Love Where You Live by Peter Kageyama and Darcy is starting William Kent Krueger’s series set on the north shore with Boundary Waters. Mayor Harley is reading Strong Towns by Charles L. Marohn, Jr and Diane is reading Talking to Strangers by Malcolm Gladwell.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8th at 4:30 pm.
Meeting adjourned at 5:15 pm.
