@ Your Library
I am liking the days with more daylight. Spring is definitely not here yet, but the extra light is marvelous.
Join us Thursday, February 19th at 1:00 pm for a wonderful all ages “Dance for All” with Sophia McLaughlin sponsored by the Arrowhead Library System and funded in part or in whole by funds from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Wear clothes you are comfortable moving in and help us create a joyful community focused on moving together.
Be sure and pick up the February Libratory bag to explore a STEAM project with Elementary aged children. Storytime continues each Thursday morning at 10:30 am and this Saturday, February 14th will be our monthly Saturday storytime at 10:30 with stories about counting and numbers.
Last week I ended with a memoir about a woman sharing books with her family. Today, I want to share the youth services award winners for 2025. These are the books a variety of professionals found the best of the best from last year. We will be working on getting copies of the books we don’t have, but we had already purchased a few of them. The Newbery Award Winner for 2026 is All the Blues in the Sky by Renee Watson while the Caldecott Award Winner for 2026 is Fireworks illustrated by Catia Chien and written by Matthew Burgess. Both of these books have been ordered. We have the following honor books The Teacher of Nomad Land by Daniel Nayeri, The Undead Fox of Deadwood Forest by Aubrey Hartman, and Every Monday Morning by Jashar Awan.
Just a couple more weeks in the Winter Reading Challenge with the Elementary School, so help your kids read every day and then turn in their reading log at the end of the month. Every student that has read 60 of the 70 days from December 20 – February 28th will get a cookie and the class with the highest percentage of finishers will get a tshirt. Encourage your kids to finish strong. Make it a family affair and read when they read, your brain will thank you.
Have a few minutes to spare? Come work on our current jigsaw puzzle. Or grab a magazine or newspaper and spend a few minutes catching up on news. We are a warm building, great for relaxing in and we love seeing the community use our space.
Federal tax forms have arrived and we also have packets for AARP tax preparation service. We can print state forms and additional federal forms if you need something special. Printing charges are $0.20 per side printed. Pick up your packet and call for your appointment sooner rather than later. They often run out of appointment times.
