@ Your Library
Next Friday is August. Where has the summer gone! I still have piles of books I want to read this summer. I better get reading if I’m going to make it through even one pile of books. I saw this quote recently and really like it. “I said this before, but I try not to think of it as a TBR pile but more like a wine cellar. You try & time the right combination of mood, energy & interest, so that you pick a book when you have the best chance of getting along with it. That’s what the writer prefers too.”
The Science Museum of Minnesota will present “Dinosaurs” on Tuesday, August 5th at 1pm. The program is focused on ages 5 – 8. Libratory finishes up next Wednesday, August 6th at 11 am. The last storytime of summer will be Thursday, August 7th at 10:30 am and the last Big Play will be Friday, August 8th from 10:30 – noon. Come visit our table at National Night Out, Tuesday, August 5th from 4 – 7 pm and pick out a free book.
The first of two Friends of the Library book sales will be Thursday, August 7th from 11 am – 1 pm. All sales are by donation with proceeds benefiting the Friends support of library programming. (The second sale will be noon – 4 pm, on Friday of the Bass Tournament, August 22).
Thursday, August 7th children can drop off a favorite stuffed animal for an overnight at the library. Teens and volunteers will help the stuffed animals have wonderful adventures at the library. The stuffed animals can be picked up Friday morning with an album of their fun.
Silent book club will meet Monday, August 11th from 6 – 8 pm and Crafters’s café will meet 11 – 1 on August 12th and 26th. Tuesday, August 12th we will wrap up summer reading with a concert and ice cream. Join us for “Will Sings” at 3:30 pm for great music and delicious ice cream.
Everyone can continue to turn in reading logs for free books until August 29th. So keep reading (listening to books being read counts too) and marking your logs, then visit the library and see what you can find to keep reading.
The library will continue to put out puzzles and community games all summer so stop by and add a piece or two to the puzzle and solve a line of our word game or figure it all out. Let us know if you have a favorite word game you’d like to see us explore together as a community. We know ‘Guess the Word” our version of Wordle will be back off and on. We’d love for the library to be a regular part of your life, visit us regularly and make reading a habit. It is great for your well-being. And help your children be ready to head back to school by reading regularly to them, even the ones who can read by themselves!
