Present: Library Director Diane Adams, Paul Nevanen, Ted Saxton, Lindsi Barnhart, MaryJo Winkel, Dick Peterson, Darcy Sullivan
Peterson called the meeting to order: 4:30 p.m.
Review of May meeting minutes. Saxton made a motion to approve the minutes, Nevanen seconded, motion approved.
Financial Report: The current bills and financial report were reviewed. Saxton made a motion to pay the bills, Winkel seconded, motion carried. Nevanen signed to pay the bills.
Director’s Report: May circulation was very disappointing. We are now 1% below year to date compared to 2018. We had 10 attend the Sutter Brothers concert and 6 for the wireworking workshop. Both were very good programs, would have liked to see a few more in attendance, but May is always a difficult month to get attendees.
Summer reading is underway. Please track your reading and encourage others to track their reading to earn free books.
Recording studio is moving slowly, still waiting for a piece for the bottom of the door and the sound insulation treatment for the inside walls of the studio. Equipment has been ordered but hasn’t arrived yet, hoping it will arrive prior to my departure for 2 weeks. So most likely we will plan some kind of ‘grand opening’ at some point in September. That will give us some time to test and learn the software and equipment. I am working on creating a Google form for people to use for scheduling time in the room.
Old Business: Anna Meyer Bequest – We have money available to purchase a large scanner to begin working on digitizing the newspaper collection. However, I think we should consider using the rest of the Anna Myer donation to purchase the scanner and use city money to pay for the staffing needed to scan all those newspapers.
Digitization Project – no progress (see above)
KTI – Koochiching Technology Initiative – received both grants, will deal with beginning in July
Donations – Gladys Brown – $50 in memory of Jerry Rutledge, Arlys Johnson – $10 in memory of Francis Einarson, Bruce Biggins – $100 – just because, move by Saxton to accept donations, second by Peterson, motion passed.
New Business: none
