Dick Peterson called the meeting to order: 4:30 p.m.
Review of March meeting minutes. Nevanen made a motion to approve the minutes, Dalton seconded, motion approved.
Financial Report: The current bills were reviewed. Nevanen made a motion to pay the bills, Winkel seconded, motion carried. Dalton signed to pay the bills.
Director’s Report: March circulation was better than February’s, but still a disappointing 15% below March 2017. Storytime attendance continues strongly with over twenty most weeks. Almost 30 attended the presentation by the Polar Polers on the Tilson Creek Bog walk proposal. We are about ready for the relaunch of Reading Ready. We are doing some small scale testing of the new online program for tracking reading and are organizing resources for a big party on Monday, April 30th. Purchasing items for the 2018 Knudson grant has begun. We are creating additional kits for families to borrow. We will have the baby kits ready to go by the Reading Ready launch party on April 30th along with five Starlings which parents can borrow for two weeks at a time to see how many words their children are hearing each day. They work with a smartphone and provide feedback and suggestions for talking with young children.
Old Business: Upcoming programs include weekly storytime on Thursday mornings at 10:30am. Last handiwork night of the season on Monday, April 16th, Drums and Percussion of the World on Monday, April 23rd at 6:30 pm, Animal Tales with Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux on Wednesday, April 25th at 12:30 pm. The Reading Ready relaunch party on Monday, April 30th from 3:30 – 6:30 pm and the second “May the Fourth Be With You” star wars party on May 4th from 3 – 5 pm.
We have turned in the summer reading booklet for printing, have the new online registration and tracking program about set up and ready to go, class visits will be the week of May 7th.
An initial meeting was held with Ted Brokaw about creating a sound studio in the library, we will need to work with the building inspector, who will be out with surgery for the next month.

John is still working his way through Grant by Ron Chernow, Dick just finished Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White (for the first time), Paul is between books, he is finding himself getting picky about his reading, Ted read How Jesus Became God by Bart Ehrman and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, Darcy is reading issues of “Minnesota History” magazine and wants to read the Minnesota Historical Society Press book Minnesota, 1918 by Curt Brown, Mary Jo picked up Crazy Like a Fox by Rita Mae Brown, but isn’t sure she’ll finish it, pretty weird, Lindsi finally finished Portrait of a Lady and is now reading Paula by Isabel Allende and Diane is reading sequels of a couple of juvenile books The Wild Robot Escapes by Peter Brown and The Boggart Fights Back by Susan Cooper.
