Director’s Report – Circulation is down 6% year-to-date. That includes both physical and digital circulation, each are down almost exactly the same amount compared to early 2025. Storytime attendance has stabilized at 10-15 each week. Crafters’ Cafe has been slowly growing and we are consistently seeing more than six in attendance. Elementary Fun was a smaller group in February, but has been fairly consistent all year. We had eleven at the Dance for All program. No extra programming in March, so hopefully we can use the month to do some planning and prepare for April which will have several outside performers.
The state annual report has been completed and will be available for review and signature at the meeting. I will also have a variety of statistical data sheets for perusal.
Summer reading planning is underway and will include an idea workshop at the Arrowhead Library System headquarters on March 20th. Summer reading will run from June 1 – July 31. Olivia will be gone the first and last week of summer reading. I will be gone from August 4 – 21.
Friday, March 13th, I will also be at the system headquarters for a meeting. This will be a morning meeting of the director’s interested in talking about the state of city budgets in the Arrowhead region. Many libraries are being impacted with budget cuts, some extreme. We are grateful we have been spared to date.
Old Business: Regular programs include storytime, a monthly Saturday storytime, Elementary Fun and Crafters’ Café. We have scheduled our second Flight Path grant with Voyageurs Conservancy for Wednesday, April 1 at 2 pm. We have worked with a representative of the Duluth Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution to present a program entitled “From Redcoats to Petticoats” for elementary students in honor of our country’s 250th anniversary.
New Business: No donations were received in the last month. The director has completed the 2025 state annual report. It was reviewed and Frank signed the approval form for submittal to the state library.
Friends of the Library book sale is Tuesday, April 7th from 4pm –6pm.
